The rains have finally arrived in the Araguaia region, and we are at the peak of the 2024/2025 planting season! With various activities underway, Dimitrio Schievenin, our project coordinator, and I visited the restoration areas to bring you the latest updates firsthand.
The First Plantings of the 2024/2025 Season
In early October, we completed soil preparation to welcome seedlings and seeds of native trees! In the video below, our field team is seen wrapping up one of the last areas in preparation:
With the areas ready, planting began in earnest:
Just 15 days later, the first seeds had already sprouted into healthy young seedlings, ready to grow and transform the landscape of the region!
Seedling planting is also in full swing, with plants from our nursery being transported to restoration areas:
Monitoring Older Restoration Sites
Restoring new areas is just part of the process. We also focus on maintaining previously restored hectares from earlier rainy seasons, ensuring the planted species thrive and grow.
To our delight, we encountered beautiful young forests—providing food and shelter for the region’s wildlife! Look at some photos:
These incredible transformations are only possible because of your support! Keep contributing to the Biodiversity Corridor, and let’s continue building a better tomorrow for future generations—together!
