About us
Hi, we are Hadassa and Tomas! I am Hadassa, born and raised in Brasília, Brazil. In Brasília I studied Biology, which gave me the opportunity to go to amazing places and learn about its ecosystems! Later I came to the Netherlands to study Water Management.
Tomas is Dutch, passionate about other cultures and languages. He studied International Relations in the Netherlands and later went to Brazil to follow a master programme in Brasília, where he also had the chance to explore the Cerrado.
We were really pleased to learn about the Black Jaguar Foundation as it unites our passions for nature, water and the Cerrado!
How we relate to the BJF
I discovered the BJF through a friend of mine from Brazil who works on restoration projects in the Cerrado. As a biologist from Brasília, I had many good moments with family and friends in the Cerrado! However, it was really sad to see the water shortage that my family and friends suffered in the last years due to improper land and water management in the region. The mission of BJF greatly appeals to me because of its potential to secure water for people and keep the Cerrado ecosystems alive!
